Land at Cafe Landwer for A Yummy Brunch And Dinner!

Figure 1: Café Landwer Maple location

It is worth noting that Cafe Landwer is a Mediterranean, Middle Eastern restaurant chain that has been operating in Canada since 1919 and has six locations within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The first location I went to and will blog about is 1-9340 Bathurst St, Maple. The other sites are 165 University Ave, Toronto; 3401 Dufferin Street Suite 612a Yorkdale Shopping Centre, North York; 1912 Avenue Rd, North York; 5000 Yonge Street Suite 102, Toronto and 33 Bloor St E, Toronto. All these locations are easily accessible by both public and private transport.

The first experience that I will blog about at the Maple location was for dinner with my friend L and her son K. I fell in love with their menu on
Our menus – Landwer Cafe as it clearly highlights V for Vegan /Vegetarian dishes and GF for Gluten Friendly dishes.

After going through their paper menu, I opted for their grilled salmon served with rice mixed with carrots, almonds, and caramelized onions as a side dish. The honey coating on the freshly well-cooked salmon gave it a subtly sweet taste, enhancing its flavor. The rice combo with caramelized onions gave it its subtly buttery and scrumptious taste that sent my tastebuds to enjoy the land. My friend L who had a spoonful of rice, would totally agree with me in describing the rice as amazingly delicious.

I wrapped up my fantastic dinner with an Acai smoothie made with acai almond milk, strawberries, blueberries, and chia seeds. Adding acai with its subtle sweetness gave this smoothie a delightful taste with the perfect sweetness plus the benefits of all the tremendous antioxidants combined.

L also ordered honey-glazed grilled salmon served with sautéed green vegetables and carrots. She raved about how very delicious her meal was.

K opted for a pepperoni pizza from the kid’s menu.  K enjoyed this freshly made pizza with mozzarella cheese and ate all of it.  I know K loved the Caffe Landwer pizza because if K didn’t like the taste of any food, he would refuse to eat it after one bite. The pizza had a freshly cut vegetable side to make it a whole meal. K had newly blended apple juice to accompany his yummy pizza.

For dessert, L and K ordered an apple pie with freshly made whipped cream and vanilla ice cream to share. Both were happy with the desserts they chose to wrap up their delightful meals.

I went to Café Landwer for lunch with my daughter P for the second time. I had sweet potato and chestnut ravioli pasta served with salmon. Creamy ravioli meets salmon, chestnut sweet potato was a heavenly tasting combo. I loved the uniquely heavy and earthy potato texture taste of the chestnut.  The combination of fresh butternut squash and ricotta ravioli mixed with chestnut creamy, freshly baked sweet potato, basil, and a truffle oil and parmesan garnish gave this dish an outstanding balance of creaminess, spiciness, and sweetness that elevated my taste buds to a very high level of enjoyment.

I had a house blend tea with an English Tea Breakfast tea bag mixed with a cinnamon stick, fresh ginger, mint, and the Landwer spice mix to accompany my delectable lunch. I loved my house blend tea for the great combination of ginger, mint, and cinnamon touching my tea-loving tastebuds; I was, however, slightly disappointed that the minty and cinnamon taste was so overwhelming that it masked the ginger taste. For fans of ginger tea only, I would suggest they order ginger tea without this mix to enjoy the full ginger taste.

For dessert, I opted for a green shield smoothie. The smoothie comprises celery over spinach, apple juice, and cucumber. It was subtle, sweet, and tangy, and my tastebuds had the most joyous conclusion to wrap up my very satisfying and heavenly delicious meal of ravioli and pasta.

My daughter P ordered a Merguez Shakshuka, a dish composed of beef sausage, cherry tomatoes, roasted onion, and parsley. Her Shakshuka was served with challah bread on the side and a radish and greens salad. P described her Shakshuka as having tangy tomatoes and the sausages as incredibly savory due to the Creamy and Oregano punching through it. She summarized her meal as heavenly and delightful for her tastebuds.

P had Pure Belgian Chocolate (White Chocolate) to accompany her amazingly delicious meal. She described her beverage as very sweet, with the cocoa powder preventing it from being nauseatingly sweet. She also stated that it had a very rich thickness with actual kisses of white-hot chocolate, making it super-duper tasty!

For dessert, P had a Spinach, Strawberry, Chia seeds, and Honey smoothie (She loved this smoothie for which she selected the ingredients. She described it as having a nicely balanced sweetness and creaminess while providing significant health benefits.
