Why Tomo Sushi

I started going to Tomo Sushi way before I started blogging. My first time was when my friend M took me for a birthday dinner, and I had the Salmon Teriyaki dinner. This sweet and savoury combo gave it an amazingly delicious taste that made me fall in love with the Tomo Sushi Japanese restaurant.  On my subsequent meals with my friend A and takeout during COVID-19, Tomo Sushi didn’t disappoint me; it consistently served me food that tantalized my tastebuds.

I also had an excellent dinner with my friend C, and what I remember mostly is this heavenly-tasting wine, a Japanese plum wine called Takara. Takara means “treasure or jewel” in Japanese, a befitting name for this great-tasting wine. I thus made Tomo Sushi my food friend as their name Tomo means “friend” in Japanese.

The Delicious Appetizer Crunch Noodle Soup and Garden Salad

The first time I went to Tomo Sushi as a blogger, I went alone. I went to the Richmond Hill location for lunch and ordered the Beef Teriyaki meal.  The meal came with a starter of their signature, delicious crunch noodles, and a garden salad on the side. This was a fantastic way to start my meal: crunchy, slightly spicy and savoury, making it a heavenly, delicious starter. The addition of the vegetable salad also made it a wholesome starter.

The Great Tasting Beef Teriyaki Main Meal

The main meal that consisted of beef grilled to perfection as it was tender and yet not overcooked. The teriyaki seasoning sprinkled with sesame seeds, along with scallions (onion greens) and broccoli gave the meat an exquisite taste that I truly enjoyed. The two vegetable gyoza (dumplings) and the fried tofu that were part of the meal were also very palatable. Refer to pictures below to see the heavenly delectable whole meal that I had at Tomo Sushi.

Another Great Experience at the Tomo Sushi Japanese Restaurant Richmond Hill Location

The second time I went to Tomo Sushi as a blogger was with my daughter P. She wanted to experience the delightful Tomo Sushi meals I had gushed to her about. P ordered Kal-Bi Lunch (B.B.Q beef short-ribs) with white rice, veggie dumplings and fried tofu. P opted for miso soup as her meal starter, and it came with their signature garden salad. She also had a green tea to accompany her meal. P was not disappointed with her meal, which she described as superbly delicious.

Figure 6: Miso Soup, Garden Salad, and Green Tea

Figure 7:Fried Tofu, Dumplings, Rice and the (B.B.Q beef short ribs.

On my visit with P, I ordered the Teriyaki shrimp, a grilled shrimp mixed with cauliflower, broccoli, onion and infused with the delicious signature Tomo Sushi Teriyaki sauce. The meal came with brown rice as a side dish. I had to pay an extra dollar for the brown rice side. Their shrimp was scrumptious. I can safely say this is the most delicious shrimp I have ever tasted. The grilled shrimp with its smokiness and the mixture with the Tomo Sushi subtly sweet Teriyaki   sauce made a sweet and savoury combo taste which made it amazingly tasty.

The salad and Miso Soup I had as an appetizer had already sent my taste buds to enjoy land, the shrimp even sent them to the deeper end of enjoy land. See pictures below for my great appetizers!

The Tomo Sushi Japanese Restaurant Mississauga location Experience

The third time when my friend LS who lived in Mississauga wanted to take me out for a birthday lunch, I suggested we go to the Tomo Sushi Mississauga location. LS had never been to Tomo Sushi, so I wanted her to try it out as well. We both ordered the Kal-Bi Lunch (B.B.Q beef short-ribs) as our main meal. The mouthwatering dish I had previously seen when my daughter P ordered it at Richmond Hill location did not disappoint me. I was awed by these juicy and perfectly grilled ribs. LS also shared her sentiments about this great tasting meat that came with rice as a side dish.

Figure 11: B.B.Q beef short ribs

Figure 12: B.B.Q beef short-ribs and rice

LS had vegetable garden salad and deep-fried dumplings as an appetizer. LS was happy with her appetizer that she stated was good. My miso soup and garden salad side appetizer were also great. Overall, the meal we had at Tomo Sushi ticked all the right boxes, delectable and satiating! The customer service at the Mississauga Tomo Sushi was excellent like its Richmond Hill counterpart.

Figure 13:Vegetable Garden Salad and Fried Dumplings

We both had green tea with our meals at the Tomo Sushi Mississauga location.

            Figure 14: Green Tea

Based on all my experiences at Tomo Sushi Japanese Restaurant, I highly recommend both Tomo Sushi locations (Mississauga and Richmond Hill). I have only tried a few of their dishes, but so much more on their menu looks yummy. Try Tomo Sushi for their vegan-friendly and all-ages-friendly meals, which are wholesome and heavenly delicious!

Land at Cafe Landwer for A Yummy Brunch And Dinner!

Figure 1: Café Landwer Maple location

It is worth noting that Cafe Landwer is a Mediterranean, Middle Eastern restaurant chain that has been operating in Canada since 1919 and has six locations within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The first location I went to and will blog about is 1-9340 Bathurst St, Maple. The other sites are 165 University Ave, Toronto; 3401 Dufferin Street Suite 612a Yorkdale Shopping Centre, North York; 1912 Avenue Rd, North York; 5000 Yonge Street Suite 102, Toronto and 33 Bloor St E, Toronto. All these locations are easily accessible by both public and private transport.

The first experience that I will blog about at the Maple location was for dinner with my friend L and her son K. I fell in love with their menu on
Our menus – Landwer Cafe as it clearly highlights V for Vegan /Vegetarian dishes and GF for Gluten Friendly dishes.

After going through their paper menu, I opted for their grilled salmon served with rice mixed with carrots, almonds, and caramelized onions as a side dish. The honey coating on the freshly well-cooked salmon gave it a subtly sweet taste, enhancing its flavor. The rice combo with caramelized onions gave it its subtly buttery and scrumptious taste that sent my tastebuds to enjoy the land. My friend L who had a spoonful of rice, would totally agree with me in describing the rice as amazingly delicious.

Figure 2: Grilled Salmon with rice, carrots, almonds, and caramelized onions

I wrapped up my fantastic dinner with an Acai smoothie made with acai almond milk, strawberries, blueberries, and chia seeds. Adding acai with its subtle sweetness gave this smoothie a delightful taste with the perfect sweetness plus the benefits of all the tremendous antioxidants combined.

Figure 3: Acai Smoothie

L also ordered honey-glazed grilled salmon served with sautéed green vegetables and carrots. She raved about how very delicious her meal was.

Figure 4: Grilled Salmon with Sauteed Vegetables

K opted for a pepperoni pizza from the kid’s menu.  K enjoyed this freshly made pizza with mozzarella cheese and ate all of it.  I know K loved the Caffe Landwer pizza because if K didn’t like the taste of any food, he would refuse to eat it after one bite. The pizza had a freshly cut vegetable side to make it a whole meal. K had newly blended apple juice to accompany his yummy pizza.

Figure 5: Pepperoni Pizza with freshly cut vegetables

Figure 6: Freshly Squeezed Apple Juice

For dessert, L and K ordered an apple pie with freshly made whipped cream and vanilla ice cream to share. Both were happy with the desserts they chose to wrap up their delightful meals.

Figure 7: Apple Pie, Home Made with Whipped Cream and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

I went to Café Landwer for lunch with my daughter P for the second time. I had sweet potato and chestnut ravioli pasta served with salmon. Creamy ravioli meets salmon, chestnut sweet potato was a heavenly tasting combo. I loved the uniquely heavy and earthy potato texture taste of the chestnut.  The combination of fresh butternut squash and ricotta ravioli mixed with chestnut creamy, freshly baked sweet potato, basil, and a truffle oil and parmesan garnish gave this dish an outstanding balance of creaminess, spiciness, and sweetness that elevated my taste buds to a very high level of enjoyment.

Figure 8: Sweet Potato and Ravioli Pasta

I had a house blend tea with an English Tea Breakfast tea bag mixed with a cinnamon stick, fresh ginger, mint, and the Landwer spice mix to accompany my delectable lunch. I loved my house blend tea for the great combination of ginger, mint, and cinnamon touching my tea-loving tastebuds; I was, however, slightly disappointed that the minty and cinnamon taste was so overwhelming that it masked the ginger taste. For fans of ginger tea only, I would suggest they order ginger tea without this mix to enjoy the full ginger taste.

Figure 9: House Blend Tea (Front view)

Figure 10: House Blend Tea (Top view)

For dessert, I opted for a green shield smoothie. The smoothie comprises celery over spinach, apple juice, and cucumber. It was subtle, sweet, and tangy, and my tastebuds had the most joyous conclusion to wrap up my very satisfying and heavenly delicious meal of ravioli and pasta.

Figure 11: Green Shield Smoothie Front view)

Figure 12: Green Shield Smoothie (Top view)

My daughter P ordered a Merguez Shakshuka, a dish composed of beef sausage, cherry tomatoes, roasted onion, and parsley. Her Shakshuka was served with challah bread on the side and a radish and greens salad. P described her Shakshuka as having tangy tomatoes and the sausages as incredibly savory due to the Creamy and Oregano punching through it. She summarized her meal as heavenly and delightful for her tastebuds.

Figure 13: Merguez Shakshuka

P had Pure Belgian Chocolate (White Chocolate) to accompany her amazingly delicious meal. She described her beverage as very sweet, with the cocoa powder preventing it from being nauseatingly sweet. She also stated that it had a very rich thickness with actual kisses of white-hot chocolate, making it super-duper tasty!

Figure 14: Pure Belgian Hot Chocolate (Front View)

Figure 15: Pure Belgian Hot Chocolate (Top View)

For dessert, P had a Spinach, Strawberry, Chia seeds, and Honey smoothie (She loved this smoothie for which she selected the ingredients. She described it as having a nicely balanced sweetness and creaminess while providing significant health benefits.

Figure 16: Own Creation Spinach, Strawberry, Chia Seeds, and Honey Smoothie

All food lovers out there, based on my experience, I would like to recommend Café Landwer for anyone looking to experience great tasting food. Whether you want vegetarian, gluten-free, pescatarian (fish only), beef, chicken, burger, fries, pizza, pancakes, or any type of smoothie or beverage. Cafer Landwer has it for you!  All meals are freshly made, and it’s also an all-ages-friendly place. Café Landwer also has a takeout service for those who want to enjoy delectable food from their homes. It is also worth noting that Cafer Landwer has a catering service for those hosting parties who wish to entice their guests with heavenly-tasting food.  It’s also great that Café Landwer has multiple locations across the GTA, and I hope all the other sites have excellent customer service, like the Maple location.

Give yourself a treat of Super-Duper Delicious Brunch at Elephant Grind!

Figure 1: Elephant Grind Brunch Restaurant

Elephant grind Coffee is an Asian Style Brunch located in Richmond Hill at 10 East Wilmot St unit 7. It opens Wednesdays to Sundays 9am. It closes at 3pm during the week and weekends closes at 4 pm.

Thanks to a friend T, who recommended Elephant Grind for its amazing food and even showed me the great online reviews, I decided to take my Foodie Self to try it out. I went there for the first time with my daughter P to try out this highly recommended brunch restaurant. Its easy to get there by car or public transit if one is coming from Richmond hill, any part of York region or the GTA. Despite looking at the online menu About (elephantgrindcoffee.com) prior to going to Elephant Grind I and my daughter P found it hard to make a selection from their wide selection of delectable looking foods.

After much pondering I ordered a Cheddar Omelette that was filled with mushroom, spinach, and red onion. I liked the fluffiness of the cheddar omelette and the cheesy taste that was not overwhelming, and I could taste all the ingredients that combined to make this meal even tastier. Also, the home fries that were part of this meal were different from the home fries I have ever tasted. They were not greasy, not overly soft but were a bit crunchy, yet soft for the taste buds to fully enjoy. The house salad that came with my order was very fresh and came with a great dressing that enhanced its fresh taste. I also ordered a piece of smoked salmon side and I liked that it had that the saltiness that comes with all smoked salmon was there but was not overly salty, so my tastebuds went to enjoy land. I had a matcha tea latte to accompany this great tasting meal and I liked it because of the combination of slight touch of sweetness and bitterness that was perfect. I still got the matcha flavour I loved so much without an overwhelming sweetness or bitterness! Refer to the below pictures for the delectable food I had at Elephant Grind.

Figure 2: Cheddar Omelette, Home Fries, Salad, and the Smoked Salmon

Figure 3: Matcha Green Tea Latte

P ordered an avocado toast that came with poached eggs and a salad. P described her toast and poached eggs as well made and highlighted that the bagel seasoning on the toast added texture to this exceptionally smooth meal. She also ordered crispy, crunchy, yet fresh bacon on the side. She had a London Fog tea latte to accompany her luscious meal. While P liked her London Fog tea latte, she did not like the gritty powder or its aftertaste. Refer to the images below for P’s delicious meal at Elephant Grind.

Figure 4: Avocado Toast, Salad, Bacon, and London Fog Tea Latte

We also could not resist the delectable looking ricotta pancakes our fellow diners were having so we ordered some for ourselves to share. The ricotta pancakes that came with ricotta cheese, blueberry compote, maple syrup along with fresh black berries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries were very fluffy. That fruity, maple syrup, ricotta cheese and the blueberry compote combo transported my tastebuds to seventh heaven, it was the best way to end an amazing brunch! See images below for the divine ricotta pancakes we had at Elephant Grind.

Figure 5:Ricotta Pancakes with Ricotta cheese, Blueberry Compote, Blueberries, Strawberries Raspberries & Maple syrup

My first experience at Elephant Grind left me yearning for more of their food. I went back for the second time for a different cuisine that I had seen on their menu. I went with my daughter P who had also been mesmerized by the superbly delicious food at Elephant Grind when we went there for the first time. On my second time at Elephant Grind I ordered an Elephant melt, a sandwich that used Brioche (Sweet Bread of French origin baked with enriched dough) and filled with House Char Siu Pulled Pork, Provolone, Caramelized onions, and Pickled Jalapeno. I was not disappointed when I took a bite of this elephant melt composed of all these well cooked and great tasting ingredients. The weft of sweetness coming from the brioche and caramelized onions, the tender pulled pork, the vinegary jalapeno taste, and the provolone cheese, all complemented each other to make this luscious meal that melted in my mouth with each bite and gave my tastebuds wonderful moments. It also came with Arugula salad on the side and their great tasting home fries. Refer to the pictures below for the great tasting brunch I had at Elephant Grind on my second visit.

Figure 6: Elephant Melt Sandwich and Arugula Salad Side view

Figure 7: Elephant Melt Sandwich, Arugula Salad Side and Home Fries Full View

P ordered the Bulgogi Beef Benedict that came with kimchi and pickled choy. Home fries were part of P’s dish. P was also not disappointed the second time around, and she loved how the kimchi and smokiness of the bulgogi elevated the regular eggs benedict. The complex flavours made the experience of eating the typically subtle flavours of the hollandaise sauce super exciting. We both had rooibos tea lattes to accompany our delicious dishes. The lattes were creamy and smooth, but the tremendous raw rooibos flavor remained and could be tasted.

Figure 8: Bulgogi Beef Benedict, Home Fries, and Salad

Figure 9: Rooibos Tea Latte

When the time came to celebrate my friend M’s belated birthday, I suggested Elephant Grind! Their menu had a lot of stuff my Foodie self still wanted to try, and I also wanted my friend to experience this Brunch place that prepared such exquisitely tasting food. This was my third time eating at Elephant Grind, and I was now familiar with the menu and knew what I still wanted to try out. This time I ordered a Lap Cheong Hash, a meal composed of breakfast sausage, roasted red peppers, spinach, gochujang (Korean red Chill Paste), two poached eggs, hollandaise & house salad. And like the two previous visits, my tastebuds experienced the heavenly tasting and well-cooked food at Elephant Grind; I have never experienced such great tasting home fries the exotic spiciness, soft and yet not overly cooked or greasy. Of course, their great salad was on the side like all their meals. M ordered haddock fish and fries with tartar sauce under their specialty menu, and she was not disappointed. She was gushing about her crispy yet soft and not greasy combo. She was mesmerized like I and P at this amazingly tasting food. If I were not a self-proclaimed foodie, I would be embarrassed to admit that I ordered the risotto pancakes again to share with M. I must admit, I have vowed to order risotto pancakes each time I go to Elephant Grind. They are irresistible, and I cannot let anyone I go to Elephant Grind with miss this heavenly-tasting specialty. I had a masala chai tea latte to accompany my delicious meal. M had a jasmine mist Sloane tea. The below images depict the tasty food M, and I had at Elephant Grind.

Figure 10: Haddock Fish, Fries & Tartar sauce; Ricotta Pancakes; Lap Cheong Hash, and Masala Chai Latte

It is worthy noting that the Elephant Grind brunch keeps me so full that I just have a fruit or small serving of yoghurt for dinner, and even if I do a heavy work out, I do not eat a heavy meal after eating at Elephant Grind. Even without the pancakes for dessert. Even P and M felt the same!

Its not just the food that wowed me at Elephant Grind, they have excellent customer service that makes anyone, and everyone feel at home. Each time I go there I always get customer service that always sends me home smiling. I urge you all foodies and non foodies who love great service and great tasting food to try out Elephant Grind. They have food for everyone, if you are vegetarian, they have you, you are a kid they have you, and you are a mixing masala like me who likes to try out different stuff, Elephant Grind has you! Their prices range between $ 14 and up for each food item and sides range from $ 3 and up. Drinks range from $2. Prices are subject to change so its best to refer to the menu link above for the current prices. The long line up and a bit of wait is a sure sign that everyone loves the Elephant Grind.!

Entice and satiate your taste buds with South African food from Plan B!

Figure 1:Plan B South African Restaurant

Plan B Handmade Burgers, Boerewors & Braai is a South African restaurant located in the Kingsway neighborhood of Etobicoke at 2943 Bloor Street West, Toronto. It is a 5-minute walk from the TTC subway station Royal York. Plan B opens from 12 noon to 9 pm on Tuesday and Thursday, 12 noon to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 12 noon to 8 pm on Sundays.

I went to Plan B with my daughters P and G for lunch. While the selection on their menu, had a lot of visually appealing choices, I had already made up my mind before going to Plan B that I would have Boerewors as one of my main dishes. Boerewors is an Afrikaans name that means farmer sausage and is made from coarse ground beef (usually mixed with minced pork, lamb, or both) and spices (coriander seed, black pepper, nutmeg, and cloves), as described by https://afrifoodnetwork.com/recipes/snack-recipes/boerewors/. The taste of Boerewors is very similar to  Bratwurst, a very common sausage in Germany and Netherlands.

My daughter P who had been to Plan B before was gushing about their mixed Braai and burger, so we ordered a shared platter of a mixed braai – boerewors, chicken, and lamb. We also ordered pap (corn meal to accompany our mixed Braai. We also ordered their tomato soup and the baked beans salad. The slightly charred chicken, boerewors, and lamb mixed Braai garnished with mint leaves was visually appealing. When I dug into our mixed Braai, the pap, tomato soup, and baked beans salad, this combo awakened my tastebuds. I was delighted with this fantastic taste of Africa. The smoked barbeque and spicy taste of the meat combo filled my tastebuds with nostalgia and joyous moments. My daughter P who shared a platter with me was also awed by this soft, well seasoned, and perfectly cooked combo, as she would describe it, emphasizing the distinct and unique taste of the boerewors. The side dishes of tomato soup and bean salad tasted good as well. The bean salad had the right amount of mayo and onions, reminding me of the perfect mayo bean salad I enjoyed growing up in Zimbabwe. The tomato soup was also semi-sweet and had a tinge of spiciness that appealed to both our senses. The food we ordered was so delicious that we ordered another side of pap. Refer to the pictures below for our delectable meal at Plan B.

Figure 2: Bean Salad, Pap, Tomato Soup and Mixed Braai

My daughter G ordered a South African Style burger and chips (fries). This freshly made burger was stuffed with beef bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. G describes the burger as being nicely spiced, smoky, and juicy.  The fries were crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside , refer to pictures below for the yummy food G had at Plan B.

Figure 3: Bacon Beef Hand Made Burger and Chips (Fries)

The whole meal for the three of us cost below $80. However, it is best to consult the above-mentioned menu for the current Plan B prices. The customer Service was also excellent as we not only got served great-tasting food, but they did it very promptly.

If you want your tastebuds to experience the unique and flavorsome taste of South Africa, Plan B will not let you down. If you cannot sit in, you can order takeout, uber eats, or even use their catering service for your next event. To name a few of the many delicious choices you can try out, and that I also would like to try out in the future, are the Boerewors Poutine, Chakalaka, Gourmet Halloumi salad with chicken, and Boerewors roll. Sharing pictures below of the Boerewors Poutine, Chakalaka, Gourmet Halloumi salad with chicken, and Boerewors roll obtained from the Plan B website /Menu with their approval!

Crush those pancake cravings with the super duper super fluffy & tasty pancakes from Fuwa Fuwa!

Figure 1: Maple Vaughan Fuwa Fuwa Pancakes

Fuwa means fluffy in Japanese. This Japanese souffle pancake and dessert Cafe is rightfully named (fluffy) as it serves amazingly delicious, and very fluffy pancakes. It’s great that Fuwa Fuwa has a good number of locations across the GTA, in Calgary, in Edmonton, in Manchester UK, and in China. To name a few of the GTA locations; Downtown Toronto, Fairview Mall, and Square one mall to entice everyone s tastebuds with their pancakes that the Fuwa Fuwa website appropriately describes as “soft, bouncy, and light.”

I have only gone to the Maple location located at 9342 Bathurst St since it is the closest location to my place of residence in Richmond Hill. This location is open on Mondays to Thursdays, from 10 am to 9pm, Fridays from 10 am to 10 pm, Saturdays from 9am to 10 pm, and Sundays from 9am to 9pm. The first time I went to eat at Fuwa Fuwa was with my friend M. When we arrived at Fuwa Fuwa when I looked at the menu, Maple Vaughan Pancakes | Fuwa Fuwa Pancakes full of those yummy looking and flavorful fluffy pancakes, their delectable menu threw me into a “kid in a candy store” mode. I was confused about whether to order their signature pancake, their souffle pancake, their tiramisu pancake, their black sesame blueberry chocolate macarons, or their burnt top cheesecake …list is endless!

After much pondering I opted for the Fruit Forest Pancake. When my order came after a 30-minute wait, and I dug into it the taste was nothing like I had previously tasted. The flavorful and flocculent-tasting pancake was worth the wait! The combo with my favourite fruits that included kiwi, pineapple, strawberry, banana, and orange along with the subtly sweet, whipped cream made it super zuper delightful for my taste buds. I ordered Oolong tea to accompany this amazingly delicious pancake. I liked this traditional Chinese tea for its fruity and subtle taste, as well as health benefits that include ample vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants as. highlighted by https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/oolong-tea-benefits#nutrition-facts.

    Figure 2 Fruit Forest Pancake

Figure 3: Oolong Tea

My friend M ordered a Strawberry Pancake. M doesn’t like her food overly sweet but was pleased with her order choice, and she described it as succulent and subtly sweet. She had coffee to accompany her delicious Strawberry Pancake.

I went to Fuwa Fuwa for the second time with my friend L, her son K, and my daughter N. L and I both ordered a Matcha Tiramisu Pancake. In addition to the signature fluffiness Fuwa Fuwa pancakes have, the matcha taste with its mixture of slight bitterness and savoriness, gave this pancake a heavenly delicious taste. My friend L also echoed how she loved this delectable taste. They also gave us extra freshly prepared matcha in case we needed to add more matcha. N and K both ordered Strawberry Pancakes. They both echoed the sentiments about how delicious their Strawberry Pancakes were.

The Strawberry Pancake is certainly a great hit with most people because when I went for the third time with my daughter N and our friends A and V, the three of them ordered the Strawberry Pancake. All three stated and emphasized how yummy their pancakes tasted. N also had a Strawberry Soda to accompany her pancake, when we went for the 3rd time. She described her strawberry drink as not too sweet, but perfectly sweet. I ordered the Matcha Tiramisu Pancake again because I wanted my tastebuds to enjoy this uniquely slightly bitter savoriness again. I was not disappointed like last time. The kids would agree as well, the 25-plus minute wait while they were preparing the pancakes from scratch was worth the wait.

The prices of the pancakes we ordered ranged from $13.95 to $18, but it is best to refer to the menu link provided above to obtain the current prices.

The first time I went there my daughter, and I shared two dishes, the Green Curry Chicken, and the Pineapple fried rice. The Green Curry Chicken was made of coconut, bamboo shoots, eggs, basil, lemon grass, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper. The flavours were complex; it was savoury, sweet, and the lemon grass added a burst of freshness to the dish.

Figure 2: Pineapple fried rice angle 1

The pineapple fried rice was made with curry powder, egg, corn, carrot, green pea and garnished with fresh pineapple. I found the rice fluffy and fantastic tasting. The pineapple fried rice combo was succulent, juicy, and yummy tasting. However, my daughter P, felt the eggs were slightly overcooked.

We shared the meals but we both felt full because the meals were wholesome and nutritious, and the portions were large enough for four people. What is even more enticing, is that these shared and delicious meals were reasonably priced at less than

$40. This was surely a great price for a great tasting meal! Prices are subject to change, refer to the following Annex menu link for the current price. New! – EAT BKK  .

The second time I went to Eat BKK Thai bar and restaurant was with both my daughters P and G. We went back to the Annex location as P lives closer to that location. This time we all ordered different meals. G ordered chicken wings and she described them as crunchy and delicious, yet soft inside and easy to chew. She added a sweet and sour sauce to her wings that she described as having a well-balanced taste, and was not too thick or thin, it was exactly right! G described the sauce and wings combo, as flavourful and tasty! Refer to the below pictures for the “crunchily delicious wings G had at Eat BKK Thai. Eight wings cost less than $ 13 but as prices are subject to change refer to the above-mentioned menu link.

Figure 4: Chicken Wings

P ordered Tom Yum soup with shrimp, a traditional hot and sour soup. She described the soup as having a bit of underlying sweetness she liked despite not being categorized as such. She ate this enticingly looking red soup with a side of their fluffy rice. She also ordered Thai milk tea to accompany her appetizing meal. She described the tea as sweet and having the taste of roasted tea leaves. Refer to the pictures below for the delectable meal that P had.

Figure 5:Tom yum soup and Thai milk tea

I ordered noodles combined with shrimp and chicken. It is worth noting that I had to pay an extra $2 to add the shrimp to the meal. I would describe my meal combo as succulent, tender and delicious. I had ginger tea to accompany this delicious meal. The ginger tea was slightly sweeter than what I am used to but still maintained the spicy and fiery taste that I love about ginger. Refer to the below picture for the tasty meal I had and the picture on the right for the tea.

I first went to Senso with my two daughters Nono and Noma. We needed a place to chill, sit and eat light eats and we decided to try Senso. We got nice window facing seats. I ordered cantaloupe ice cream, and I was not disappointed!  It felt so great as this heavenly ice-cream went down my throat.  While I have eaten the cantaloupe fruit several times, it was my first-time eating cantaloupe ice cream, and I would describe the taste as delectable. To sum it up, the ice cream was sweet yet refreshing and airy. I also ordered a Detox Herbal tea. Refer to pictures below for this unique and /enticing ice cream and the Detox Herbal tea.

Senso also serves a variety of beverages that include Stressless Herbal Tea, Relaxing Herbal Tea, Organic Beet Latte, Borage with Lime etc.  If chance and $$ permit, I would love to try all other beverages that Senso has to offer.

Since my first experience was amazing at Senso, I decided to go there for brunch with my friend A. When I opened the menu, I was thrown into a kid in a candy store mode. There were so much mouth-watering and appetizing Persian Breakfast dishes. After deliberating if I should order the Turkish Omelette, the Bandar Omelette, or the Nargesi Omelette; I chose the Nargesi Omelette. The Nargesi Omelette is made of spinach, caramelized onion, mushroom, and egg. I was not disappointed. It was not only healthy, and the flavours were well balanced. The Nargesi omelette thrilled my tastebuds! It was served with fresh bread, cheese, tomato, cucumber, cashews, honey, and butter. I ordered Saffron Herbal Tea to wash down this delicious brunch combo. Refer to the below picture for the delicious brunch I ate at Senso.

We then ordered cakes to wrap up our delicious brunch choices. A ordered a chocolate mousse cake and I ordered a pistachio cake. Our taste buds were both dancing to the choices we made! My pistachio cake was not too sweet, it was what I would describe as heavenly and perfect!!! Refer to the pictures below for the chocolate mousse and pistachio cake respectively.

What’s not to love about Senso, it’s cozy, and homely and there is so much good food on their menu that I still need to try. My foodie mind and the sweet tooth cannot help thinking of the mouth-watering baked goods that were displayed at Senso. If I had the money and the stomach to accommodate all the yummy-looking goodies shown below, I would have ordered them all.

I went back to Senso by myself, and I had a sausage and egg breakfast with the regular sides in the above mentioned breakfast items. Saffron tea has become my favorite herbal Persian tea, so I found myself ordering it again. I keep ordering it because of the health benefits that have been documented by Cleveland Clinic which are antioxidants and weight loss.

I also ordered a carrot and walnut cake this time and I was not disappointed! Carrot and the walnut cake has always been one of my favorite cakes, but this one was creamy, crunchy, and yummy!. Refer to the picture below for the carrot and walnut cake.

The bread and home fries which were part of the meal were also tasty/appetizing/flavorful /yummy. The meal we ordered was thus super-duper zuper delicious indeed! The meal cost $34 per person. Even my younger daughter Nono would agree as I brought her home fries from Amal Restaurant for her to try.
